Development of Dynamo BIM for Structurally informed modeling
- giovedì 14, ore 10:00-18:00 (sala riunioni, via Forno Vecchio, 36)
- venerdì 15, ore 10:00-14:00 (sala riunioni, via Forno Vecchio, 36)
Abstract
Autodesk Revit is a building information modelling (BIM) integrated environment for architectural modeling and structural modeling and analysis, among other disciplines required for the building design process. Such multidisciplinary environment improves the design coordination and reducesthe clashes among different disciplines. Dynamo as an add-in for Revit introduces the computational design within a visual programming platform to BIM. The algorithmic approach of Dynamo allows modeling adaptively. I.e., through defining a model by algorithms, many different instances with different geometries can be produced. Furthermore, integrating structural analysismethods to the modeling algorithms, allows structurally informed design of different types of structural systems. Such integration is effectively possible by making custom functionality for Dynamo which is provided by various development options for this editor. In this short course, I intend to introduce different development options for Dynamo which can improve structural modeling within the Revit platform. For this purpose, the basics of object-oriented programming and algorithmic design will be briefly presented. For developing Dynamo BIM, I chose C# language using the free Community version of visual studio. It will be used both for modelling and mostly algebraic analysis integrated with the modeling process.
