masonry structures

The department performs analytical and experimental studies on masonry structures, developing innovative research on:

  • Assessment and retrofitting of existing and historical buildings
  • Experimental investigations on materials and structural sub-assemblages
  • Strengthening by composite and innovative materials
  • Mechanics and computational modelling of masonry structures
  • Design guidelines and code provisions

The research is performed in synergy with other national and international universities and research centers in the framework of research projects that are specific for the research field (Reluis 2014-2018) and that allow the application of the research results for the sustainability and protection of the built environment (Metrics, Metropolis).
